OC sewing classes

Sewing classes are free and open to the public! All ages welcome -- youth must be accompanied by an adult. The project of the day is not mandatory; you are encouraged to bring your own project to work on. Please call and reserve your seat.

 

Oldham County Sewing Classes

Past sewing classes include Sewing 101: Introduction to Sewing, Chenille Pillows, Holiday Table Runners, Infinity Scarves, Mother Daughter Aprons, Rag Quilts, and Fabric Storage Containers. Flyer coming soon for a listing of this year's sewing classes taught by Master Clothing Volunteer Angela Morris.

 

Monday, February 26, 10am-2pm • Kitchen Accessories •  Patterns include pot holders, place mats, dish towels, and soup bowl holders. Supply List: 1 yard each of two coordinating fabrics (100% coton), 1 yard cotton quilt batting, 3/4 yard insulating fabric (optional, could use another batting layer), 1 dish towel, 2 two-inch metal rings, fasteners (large buttons, velvo, or large snaps)

how to build a sewing kit

Building a sewing kit? Collect the following items:

  • Tape Measure
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Pin Cushion
  • Hem Gauge
  • Needles
  • Marking Pencil for Sewing
  • Seam Ripper

Finally, find a container for your sewing notions and put your name on it. You can buy an art container at a crafts store or even use a small toolbox.
